Diary of an Edinburgher

More practice...

Once Archie had gone off with Becky and Daniel (with strict instructions not to roll in poo like last week) we took the bikes out for a spin. I tried my new water cup in a holder on my handlebars, but it fell off with a clunk as I crossed a bumpy intersection. But it didn’t fall off the rack at the back.

We spied Archie with his pals across in the other section of the Links, so went to check up on him. He was behaving himself. He’s so happy with them, and went off again without a backward glance at us, his mums. We were near the wildflowers, so we took some photos there.

On Sundays Queen’s Park is closed to traffic, so it would be great to try it out. Only problem is - getting there along roads. Not ready for that yet.

You can see the different saddle heights. JR can sit on hers and touch the ground with her toes. My saddle height is high, because of my knees - I can’t get right around if it’s too low. I’d feel more confident if I could sit and touch the ground.

We took a wee walk across the Meadows in the afternoon. So many people, wee kids too, whizzing about on bikes! I always study their technique admiringly...

The local cafe was mobbed (good) so we didn’t go in for a coffee, as intended. In fact, we had a passable one at Starbucks. They’re OK of you get a double shot in a small cup, and not one of their ginormous ones.

I spent a frustrating hour or so trying to organise my playlists. They don’t play now as I cancelled iTunesMatch (ages ago). You have to pay Apple to play your music that you’ve already bought, but not through them. I still haven’t got it fixed, and can’t use my beloved playlists, even though I’ve re-join iTunesMatch. This has just suddenly happened. Most annoying.

Might work up the energy to attempt to get the bikes into the car boot tomorrow...
