how time flies

These are Bachelor Buttons. An individual bloom does not last long, but a single plant is very prolific in producing blooms.
My first exposure to this flower was in 1972, when I received some in a bouquet, and liked them so much I tried to dry them for posterity. It was a huge failure, as they all turned out looking like the dead bloom on the left.
Here it is 48 years later, and my memory of that time is as fresh as ever.
