beach pebbles and fossils

I am trying to get to grips with my camera and using the macro. I have fiddled about and fiddled about with these pebbles. I am definitely struggling without a view finder and how this affects how I hold a camera (steady). Any advice and constructive criticism is welcomed (and needed).

This daily blip is making learn about my camera and how to take photographs with it, which is enjoyable but very frustrating at times.
