Nigella and the ugly cucumber

I planted nigella seeds in a pot in March and they are just now beginning to flower.

In extras is one of the cucumbers growing in the greenhouse.  The plant is producing lots of cucumbers but they never seem to grow any bigger than this apart from a couple that were big enough to eat but were excessively ugly
