Bruce on a bench
A wonderful day! Thankfully it was much cooler, a mix of sun and cloud.
G and Dan went golfing with plans to play the first 9 holes together then to join G's regular golfing buddies for the 2nd 9. G's calf isn't completely healed, so he played the first 9 then rode with Dan for the 2nd 9. They had a lot of fun. Dan's comment was that he could see himself and his group of friends being exactly like G and his buddies when they get to be the "old guys", lots of camaraderie, ribbing, laughter.
Krista, Bruce and I packed a picnic and went to Xwaaqwum for a relaxing walk through the trail then had fun on the beach with Bruce. What a great time he had, following the tiny crabs, digging holes, exploring. He had a couple of puppy fits that were hilarious, running around us (he's fast!), tripping, losing his balance, rolling around. We decided to go to Drummond to eat our lunch. Perfect to sit on one of the benches there and enjoy the view. Here's a photo of Krista on the bench, fixing her hair. When we got home, we sat in the garden with iced coffees and slices of banana bread that I'd made from Krista's recipe - delicious! I talked her ear off, but according to her, she talked mine off. Bruce had a nap then chewed on a pizzle stick that kept him occupied for ages.
The guys got home just after 4, relaxed for awhile, then we got ready to go for Dan's birthday dinner at Auntie Pesto's. It was his birthday yesterday, but we knew they'd enjoy eating out more today because they would be tired after getting up so early to come over yesterday. I'd asked Krista what I could make for supper on his actual birthday, and she suggested perogies with onions, peppers and sausages because Dan loves perogies, followed by cheesecake for dessert. It was very good and Dan had the leftovers for breakfast before golf, but the pasta at Auntie Pesto's was even better! When we got home, we played Corn Hole then watched a couple of Seinfeld episodes (a tradition). Bruce snuggled with G, just like he did last time he was here, and I think G would be quite happy to kidnap the wee guy!
They're leaving tomorrow afternoon. So happy that Dan had some time off work and they were able to come over, even for a short visit. :-))
Extras: Bruce in the seaweed; Krista taking a photo of Bruce on the beach; treat time.
