Armoured Latch

This superb mechanism is another addition to my latch series. It holds shut a gate across a lane - which is accessible by vehicle from public roads (it has been ‘tarmac’ed at some point in the past but is now a rutted, overgrown lane) and leads to a farm. I guess in the dim and distant past there has been trouble with gate being ‘opened’ by people. The padlock securing the gate is hidden by the lower steel box. The lane is also a public footpath - and there is gap between this post and the hedge to walk through.   

A short walk with Finlay this morning - he is still a little slow but seems to be improving. All his pain disappears when he sees a cat and he is back to his normal self for a brief time.

I then took myself off for a much longer walk before the predicted heat came..
