"Aunt Edith"

Mums older sister at the coffee morning. A talented soprano, pianist, teacher. Her health has deteriorated recently, some days muddled, some days tearful. It's hard to see her so vulnerable, in her younger days, so proud, capable and sharp. I think back to her piano recitals, music lessons and opera performances, one being "Carmen" complete with a rose in her teeth, Armahl and the Night Visitors, The Mother singing her role whilst heavily pregnant with her daughter, my cousin. About the time mums health deteriorated aunt Edith moved just down the road. It is sad that in recent years her and mum would probably have enjoyed more time together as mums other sister moved to live with her daughter down south. Sadly mums illness has prevented this but we talk about when they were all younger, funny stories, sad stories, they lived through very hard times, but always say eeee happy days :))
