Drifting down the Dordogne

Mum & dad dropped Antony and I off a couple of villages down this morning so that we could enjoy a gentle drift down the Dordogne. The early start meant that we were the only kayak on the river. Another couple of hours and the river would have been swarming with them. A lovely peaceful meander downstream.

Temperatures were set to soar today and so it was another day of sticking close to water. Mucking about in the river in the morning, moving on to the pool in the afternoon.

It’s been overwhelmingly hot today. By 7.30 in the evening the temperature was still a massive 39° and the sweat was still dripping. An evening swim in the river was the only option to cool down pre-bed.
