I bought this for mum’s 80th. I planted it with a beautiful rose which did well for a while but seemed to decline with her into her dementia. It too died.
I couldn’t bear to see the pot go off either in house clearance or to the hospice shop so have bought it back with me and it is planted up with a sunflower and rudbeckia.

It has been a long weekend turmoil and full days of sorting all the paperwork and 180 years of stuff if you accumulate the years ... double it, triple it, quadruple it, if you think of all the other accreted stuff of organisations, wills, probates, deeds ... it is endless ... of dad’s various involvements. Dad channelled energy, drive and obsession from some well in the universe that could be exhausting to be around and tough to live up to. The fragmentation of that energy is becoming more evident as some form of entropy manifests. The centre cannot hold and as it fragments in this insignificant speck of the universe the chaos appears to ensue.
