Alzheimer's

Often mispronounced as "Old Timer's" Disease.

This image made me think of the frustrated look in people's eyes when they can not find the information they are looking for and they are trying to make sense out of the things they see. It reminded me of the lonely place that Alzheimer's Disease is.

First it reminded me of how it feels to have a respiratory illness, but the longer I looked at it, the more it reminded me of how people who have a 'broken mind' struggle to find something that makes sense in the world. As I pondered it, I suddenly didn't feel so sorry for myself. The residual effects of my cold will fade and my sinuses will clear. Not so for those whose minds are broken.

One of the most important things I think that I have ever come to understand about Alzheimer's Disease, is that those who experience it, often find their own emotions in the expression on the face of those they see. When my face is pleasant and happy, their emotions are too. When I look worried, they are troubled. The best gift to give is still a smile.
