Archiving

Obviously people who work in Libraries are even less prone to throw stuff away than other people but, like just about everyone else everywhere, we've been having a bit of a lockdown clear-out. Last week I finally made it to the shelves in the Cleaners/Store cupboard. In amongst the handwritten sheets of issue figures from 1974, sketches for the old Children's Library mural (1984) and blurry photos of long-forgotten events and re-openings I found the Newspaper Accounts book that was used from 1969 until 1981. Quite a beautiful object in it's way. The upshot is that whilst we now have a lot more room upstairs - and several bags of recycling - we also have a box file marked 'Library Archives.' Well, you never know...
