At lunchtime Simon Coveney the Irish Foreign Minister and I , along with Jenny Gilruth and our senior officials, had a discussion about the ongoing Irish/ Scottish policy review which seeks to broaden and deepen the unique relationship between our countries.

Afterwards his office tweeted their end of the Zoom chat , taking place in the grand surroundings of Iveagh House , the Irish Foreign Office in the heart of Georgian Dublin.

My end was at home beside Loch Riddon in Argyll and the contrast illustrates the great richness and variety of our connections.
