Swaddywell flowers
Late summer in Swaddywell Pit is a riot of purple and pink, mostly Wild Marjoram, but with stands of Rosebay Willowherb, Great Willowherb, Common Knapweed and Wild Basil thrown in, as well as the statuesque Teasels. All these flowers attract a range of insect life, including many freshly emerged Peacock butterflies. There was even one rather tattered Silver-washed Fritillary supping from them.
