London 2012
Eight years ago today, it was the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.
I volunteered as a Gamesmaker and all my shifts were at Earl's Court for the Volleyball. (Sadly that venue no longer exists)
I'd had no idea how popular that sport was but the stadium was usually full and many of the same fans came back, day after day, to support their countries. They dressed up a lot too. The was a group of Polish fans who dressed up as chefs and another day they all wore volleyball headgear. The Brazilian fans often dressed up in very glitzy suits and were regularly seen dancing the Samba.
It was always a great atmosphere and I enjoyed every moment.
