zoom zoom

Amazing how complicated an old super zoom lens is. This is not going back together.

This is the insides of a 28-200mm zoom I bought in the 80s for a X700 Minolta film SLR. There are 18 elements arranged in multiple groups. The elements had become hazy over time so having nothing to lose I took it a part and cleaned up the front and back clusters and put it back together. Still hazy it turned out there is a central set of elements that are next to the Iris so apart it came again. Now it's just too much trouble to put back and the image quality is never going to be very good anyway. So now I have a nice collection of little lenses and some really small screws..... somewhere.
