Happy Birds

After yesterday’s hawk drama the garden had been very quiet with not many bird visitors. They did start coming back today and as you can see they seem to be approve of the new feeders! They are supposed to be squirrel proof - but as yet I have not been able to  confirm that. The tubes have metal caps and metal clips to hold them down and require a fair force to remove them.

I have been dealing with a wasp nest under the house - they had used one of the air bricks as an entry and exit point. I bought some suitable powder and squirted it all around the air brick last night. By this morning there were many fewer wasps and there was a pile of bodies on the ground! Virtually none flying in and out his afternoon. The pack says I may have to reapply in a couple of days as some of the eggs hatch…but I suspect that there is plenty of power remaining and it is not in a place that gets rained on!

Finlay was not happy on our very short walk this morning - barely managed 15 minutes. He was also stumbling a lot - I suspect with the pain in his back that he is not able to get enough lift to move his front paw forward and it hits the ground. So looks like we are on the way to the vets tomorrow.
