Gently down the stream

Mumma's summer

Well I'm pretty sure this is mumma - I didn't see any babies, but thought they were scuttling around in the undergrowth.

Went to the reserve very early this morning, trying to beat the runners.  You never do that entirely, particularly on a Sunday, but it was pretty quiet.  It was also damp from yesterday's rain with a sky rather full of clouds.  But it struck me that while summer to us means beaches, icecream and Pimms, to a deer in the wild it must be having food accessible from ground level to right up above your head.  What bliss!

There's another in extras.

What else have I done today?  Walked Hazel and met up with the friend who owns young Soldier; sat in the conservatory and read the Sunday papers.  Plus, um, worked out what I want to get done this week, but not today  ;-D .

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  And all you WildFlowerWeekers, a reminder that as from today we're on to WFW20_18Doesn't seem possible, does it?  xx
