End of Day Breeze
Today began with a phone call to my older sister in MN; it was her birthday, and I was determined to reach out to her, sister to sister, putting aside our vastly differing political points of view. It worked, we were very nice to each other. Later, I listened to the speech by Alexandria Octavio-Cortez about her refusal to accept abuse from men. Thank-you AOC! Then, thinking of my sister, I looked at a Fox interview with the offending Representative, and know that that is the version she will see and believe; how can we ever find common ground!
We ate dinner on the front porch, then waited for neighbors in the next block to bang on pots and pans in their nightly tribute to first responders. They were two minutes late, and before they finally began, I thought, “No! Don’t pick today to stop this wonderful tribute; I need some cheer!” I love this daily benediction; it cheers me and gives me hope.
After awhile, a breeze came up, a nice warm breeze - the last we’ll feel until mid-week when the expected 2-day spike to 98 degrees has come and gone.
