Reproduction
Some animals reproduce by laying eggs.
What, you didn't think whales did that?
For a brief period, eons ago, Starbucks also sold finger puppets and I loved finding them for Karen. From the tag I see that this is one of those.
My wonderful news for the day is my hairstylist is alive! I haven't seen her since February and I was hoping she and her family were ok. She has a common name so I wasn't able to find her. A former coworker had COVID. A former classmate is fighting COVID. My friend had several strokes. We can't take for granted that people we haven't heard from for a while are ok.
HairCuttery (inexpensive US chain for haircuts) declared bankruptcy months ago I learned. Somehow she was able to get my number and called to tell me that in two weeks she starts at a new salon where they'll be very careful. My response was to heck with that, would you cut my hair in my driveway? Outdoors plus masks = as safe as it can get. She said yes. I then joyfully told some of my neighbors and they've all gone indoors and gotten their haircuts.
There was a case of two hairstylists who had COVID, worked while symptomatic, and gave it to no clients. The salon was limiting the number of people in the shop. Everyone wore masks. Of course, you don't face your stylist, at least not for long. They tracked everyone they served so everyone could be contacted and checked up on. It is a great testament to the efficacy of masks, but it also means it is not that dangerous to go inside a salon and get a haircut. It is a good thing since apparently every single person I like outside my family has done that!
It has been a desensitization therapy. My hair cut may not be as polished as when done by a professional but it is kind of edgy and hip.
But increasingly most of the world will be able to do normal things. It will take a while before it feels normal, but we'll get there. We will even hug again. I will hug again anyway. Once we have vaccines I'll hug my hairstylist as I used to (assuming she hugs again).
I hope you have restorative fun this weekend.
