Farewell Good and Faithful Friend
In 1978 I got a promotion that required a lot of travelling, so I needed a new suitcase. I went to the Houndsditch Warehouse in the City (remember that?) and bought this Samsonite suitcase.
In the early days it was just travelling around the UK with one trip to Crete for a holiday, and a three month work asignment in Algeria.
Then things got serious in 1981: working in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi over four years, with trips to India and Sri Lanka. Then back to the UK and travels to various locations for work and fun in France, Spain, Morrocco, Djibouti, Namibia, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey, Italy, Sicily, Montenegro, New York, New England, California, Kansas City, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Austria, Hungary, Denmark and Hong Kong. In many cases - such as Hungary and Switzerland - they were multiple trips, sometimes over many years.
But now the lining has gone, the locks don't work, and it is quite a weight to carry, so time to say goodbye. We had good times.
Thank you so much old friend.
