That's the wonder of Woolies...
I think Woolies in Church Street, Seaham closed down in the mid-80's. The five bays and central pediment identify it as a corporate style used by many Woolworths stores. It's still a fine looking building and from the looks of it, it will outlive the lesser quality constructions in the same street. Sadly it looks like it has an unsure future, now under the charge of another charity shop. Byron Place in Seaham is a warm, dry, clean modern and popular shopping environment and it's sucked the life blood out of much that was the town's Main Street. Nothing new there then.
