Evening hush

Staring out over a mountain tarn to the Jostedalsbreen ice cap and mountains after a long evening hike up Myrhønna, a peak overlooking the river we went rafting on this morning.

----------------------

I was so proud of A & S today - We had a super fun session rafting down the Jøstelva - Sofia in the front paddling and Astrid at the back (and occasionally riding up front like a little mascot. The water was really cold!
But they gamely jumped in when the raft guide encouraged it and we had practice pulling back on to the raft.
The lower sections of the river has some surprisingly big rapids for a family trip - A was judged too small and left on the bank for the last 3 rapids. I was surprised, we even had a second run down the lower sections and lots of hot chocolate to warm up afterwards! It was so great to be back on the river, we "splashed out" on the photos afterwards.
It was such glorious weather that after a late but good lunch the family were prevailed upon to go for another hike (there was a certain amount of resistance). It was absolutely worth it.
What a stunning route. Up to a saddle and then along a long sloping ridgeline, scrambly in places and large snow patches to cross but absolutely stunning views and beautiful northern summer light.
I took this when we got down to the car again. A day that will live long in the memory
