A Bee Sort of a Day

I taught my class via Zoom out in the garden again this morning - the students that do come (it's not a requirement) feel that they could never learn the plants without seeing them in the garden, or in person. So unless they go to the nursery I've partnered with, seeing me futz around with the plants in the garden is as good as it gets. But they seem really interested and engaged and they ask great questions.

My neighbors are having their roof done, down to the plywood, so it's VERY noisy in my office which overlooks the driveway and out to their house. It's on the market and as lovely as 90 percent of the house and property is, I suspect that the old roof was a sticking point. 

The rest of the day was basically spent at my computer grading and then starting on the next week's materials. But I took a good break and went blip-hunting in the garden. It's a lovely afternoon - mild temps, lovely clear blue sky. The bees are out in hoards this afternoon! I finally settled on this sweet pollen-laden bee enjoying the flower of a Sneeze Weed - Helenium autumnale. The plant is a stunner - easily 4' tall and about 3' wide - it commands a large place in the perennial border.
