The girls .....

We have 4 hens at the moment.....this number changes from time to time.....we used to have 5 but Zoe - the bad hound dog, caught one and had it for afternoon snack about a year ago. They used to get to roam around the place come spring time, but we just can't trust Zoe...once they get the taste they apparently can't resist it! So, they have a little hen house, and a fenced in area. During the winter months their outside area is closed...it's just too cold! anyway, most mornings lately, i've been heading out there to give them water - even with a heat pad it usually freezes overnight...and collect any eggs! Their production is down just now and we're only get 1 a day! This is just fine cos there is only Terry and I. In the summer we often get 3-4 a day! But then we have all those Wwoofers to feed so it's great.

It's an early blip for me cos it has started snowing, it's about -12 but windy...so i ain't going for a walk out there!

2.30pm update....it's now -19 and very windy!
