Birthday Ducklings

I usually take my 100-400mm lens with me on our morning walks but took the 17-55mm today as I intended to get a nice wide image of our neighbour's lake as a present for her ninetieth birthday, which is today. I heard some plaintiff cheeping and at first saw a lone duckling then a whole family of them. We rushed back up to the house and got my old long lens and I managed the above shot for her. How lovely that they appeared on my friend's birthday, especially as ducklings have been few and far between on the lake this season.

I took Ollie dog to the vet this afternoon as she has run out of painkillers. He said that her morning paddles in the lake are great therapy for her bad knee.
