Velocity Café

Fast food? Fast service? Mend your bike? Yesterday Mrs P said that a lady had come to the school to talk to the children about the new Velocity Cafe just a short distance away. Not to offer free hamburgers but part of a project to get them to ride bikes. As you can see in the picture they have a cycle workshop attached to the cafe and will help children to maintain their bikes and show them how to do simple repairs. Well at least that's how I picked it up. And they're going to run a competition to see which of the local schools can get the most pupils onto their bikes. Mrs P says that most of her 5/6-year-olds walk to school and would hesitate to encourage young children to cycle as the school fronts on to quite a busy road. The café is at the top of quite a steep brae so the girl pushing the pram probably feels as if she's had enough exercise for the day.
