The Last Sipper

This is Mark and he is Photo Soc's President. He says 'Hi!' and tomorrow (sadly) he'll be saying 'Bye!' as it's Photo Soc's elections to decide who the new exec members running the society for next year will be. As Mark is graduating he won't be able to get involved. It is actually sad to leave the exec of any society as you really do pour your heart and soul in to it. Mark has done a great job of being Pres. This was taken at the Dirty Duck whilst we were hanging out having a meal - the last supper, hence the title.

I walked on to campus for a lecture (that was only 30 minutes long - what the hell?!) but actually ended up doing yesterday's blip for most of it. Then I leant my camera to my housemate Kris so he could use it for his 3rd year project (using fluorescent particles to track oil droplets moving through liquids in the presence of a surfactant.... Make any sense to you?) and I got some project work done which meant I could justify going to Photo Soc's event...

Today was a very photo-soccy day. We had a great campus challenge/treasure hunt set by Andy where we had 60 minutes to complete 15 challenges around campus - see here for all the details - which lead to some great shots being captured particularly this one and this one.

We chilled in the Dirty Duck afterwards to chat about our shenanigans, compare pictures and get some friendly rivalry going on. Andy announced the winning team: team SAHAM (which included yours, truly!) - nice job to Shane, Andy, Hava and Mahfood. It was a real close call between the top 3 teams.

This was the second photo soc challenge I've been lucky enough to be on the winning team for, in 1 year - so the track record isn't looking too bad. It is, however, testament to just how little correlation there is between photographical skill and your chances of winning, and exactly the reason why everyone should get involved in Photo Soc.

After hanging out at the Duck it was time to head on over to Westwood Dance studio for a breaking rehearsal. The routine is now finished, and we're just putting together the final touches and tightening everything up. The performance on Sunday is gonna be a great day and all the hard work will definitely pay off.

After I had the intention of doing a quick bit of spray painting some t-shirts (for the performance) and then getting some project work done. Well, spray painting the tees took more than 2 hours (there were only 15 to do!) and then Henry, Ellie and ended up chatting until almost 1 am. It was a decent chat about all kinds of subjects - music, breaking, Love Actually, schooldays and childhood. I'm making much more time for people, nowadays and I like it.
