Between fen and mountains

Tread carefully

The weather forecast was right. It said snow at 600 metres and we duly got some. This is somewhat unusual in the village. The roads further up were impassable this morning and the absence of gritters meant everyone had to use shanks's pony. My quick pop out to the butcher took half an hour because the weather conditions required extensive discussion in the shop. The snow is apparently unusual in that is is gritty and not flakey. There is a Catalan word for this but I did not catch it. Our friend with restricted mobility cannot get down to us from the top of the village for lunch so we will just have to take it up to him in baskets and thermoses!
