Tomato HornWorm

This is a rather small one, maybe only one inch in length. It was just starting to do some major damage to one of our tomato plants. They eat really fast and can strip an entire tomato plant overnight. I usually pick them off and deposit them in the seed tray, as an offering to the BirdGoddess, but this one was destined to become a Blip celebrity! It overnighted, comfortably, in a small jar with some choice tomato plant leaves and stems and then this morning I spent some time in a photo session with the little muncher, after which I placed it and the remaining  leaves and stems in a relatively 'safe' spot. It probably didn't last long as the birds and Brown Anoles are always on the hunt for such juicy morsels. And here's a little tidbit of info for you...caterpillar poop is officially called 'FRASS' and is very important to many ecosystems, especially Tropical ones. So there, now you know! hahaha
Do check out today's *extra for three more photos and some 'FRASS'!
