Banksy
Because of our shared surname (no relation), this is the man who I recall that by that association, caused me to spend most of my junior school playtimes stood between the piled jumper goalposts as my team’s reluctant goal keeper (A bit like Casper in the brilliant film Kes!)
This then is sculptor Andrew Edwards’ bronze statue of 1966 World Cup winning goalie Gordon Banks set outside the his beloved teams home ground - Stoke City FC’s Bet 365 Stadium (oh for the simple named stadiums of the past).
I am on a mission as volunteer to slowly photograph all of the statues and public art of Stoke, Newcastle-under-lyme and Staffordshire Morelands. This is for charity ARTS UK’s national Sculpture Recording Project.
