Derelict Water Tower
I love these old water towers. There are still quite a few of them around, but most of them have been converted to studios or offices or something. It was quite a surprise to come upon this one in a suburban neighborhood full of tidy, well kept houses.
I was less than enthusiastic about getting a shingles shot today, but it was the second one and should be given within six months of the first. Can six months really have passed since we had the first one? Apparently. I didn't really want to go either for a shingles shot or to Costco, but Costco was virtually deserted and the pharmacy was well organized....
The same, somewhat androgynous looking person as we saw last time was there, and as she was wearing a name tag that said 'Tamara' I think it is safe to assume that she is a she. She warned us that were likely to have more reaction to the second one since we already have antibodies from the first. She also suggested we get a flu shot as soon as they have it this year as she anticipates a mad dash to claim one. Feeling a bit beleaguered and covered in bandages after yesterday's adventure, I put that out of my mind for now.
The quilting lady, Lynda, called yesterday to say that Stephanie's quilt was finished, and she lives on the way home from Costco so we stopped by to pick it up. She did a beautiful job in a very short time and for a reasonable price. Now all I have to do is put the binding on. I like to do that since it is mostly hand sewing. She told us that she never leaves home anymore...all she does is quilt! I asked her if it was fun and she said she loves it. Her husband does all the cooking AND the shopping since she started quilting. John was checking out her long arm sewing machine and smiling to himself as I think he's feeling a bit like a quilting widower himself....
The water tower is in Lynda's neighborhood and I actually noticed it today since John was driving and also willing to stop so I could get a picture of it. It was right at the bottom of someone's driveway, but not, I think on their property. I liked the topiary trimmed bush next to it which makes me think they feel that the water tower is an enhancement rather than an eyesore. I like it but it is really very derelict. I hope it doesn't fall on anybody in their driveway....
