Where have you bin?

Gugs and I went on a rare lunchtime sortie to the eclectic Mill Road area of Cambridge, to pick up a few supplies for an evening get together tomorrow. I bought some biltong from the butchers which may be more expensive than gold by unit weight. Yet another good reason to visit South Africa again. I was waiting for Gugs outside a shop when I noticed this scene. I don’t think the herd of bins complements what would otherwise be an interesting building.

A meeting I joined today included a presentation by Chris, who’s staying in my flat across town, and who was videoing in from my bedroom. It was slightly bizarre.

A reasonably good feeling of accomplishment by the end of the day as I finished a proposal document that’s been lingering for months. That afforded me a feeling of relative lightness as I went on a stroll and read White Fragility for a while on a bench. It’s slightly more academic in style than I expected but is giving some really valuable framing around what is a discriminatory act based on someone’s race vs what is an inherently racist structure and society that we all live in. We’ve all got to be better clued up on this topic and be able to engage verbally in a much more informed way.
