Lifeblood

The lifeblood of the Yakima Valley is irrigation. I think this area is technically a desert, but extensive irrigation has transformed it into a huge agricultural region, full of fruit orchards and vineyards. Every time I return I am struck by the beauty inherent in the various form of sprinklers. This image was shot in the beautiful yard at our friend's house where we are currently spending time. It is supposed to be more 38ºC today, which would mean these plants would not be growing without regular waterings.
