Crash Bang Wallop
Duke and I sat on the terrace watching the thunderstorm in the very early hours of this morning.
It started out at sea, with great flashes across the sky.
Then it silently moved inland and across the valley. The flashes became streaks and then bolts of lightning every couple of seconds lit up the sky in a dazzling display of electrical pyrotechnics.
All I had to do was keep the shutter pressed and I was bound to get some in the can. Well, four or five in 132 frames captured something and this was the best by far.
Gradually the thunder became audible. Soon it was a continuous booming in the air, rather than discrete claps or rumbles.
And then finally, when the best was over, along came the rain. Only for about 20 minutes, but enough to send me scurrying off to close windows, as the strong wind was blowing it into the study.
And then it was gone. I heard a few rumbles during the night, but this morning the sun has returned and the puddles will soon evaporate.
But it was great while it lasted.
