A hotel or a home?

This monstrosity of a house is going up just one door down from me. This photo doesn't even show how massive this structure is. I have a friend who cleans houses for a living and she says, no matter how large a house is, a family usually lives in just 500 square feet. Why do people feel they need to have a house this huge?

In the past few years with Hong Kong going back to Chinese rule, we have had many Chinese buy in the Pacific Northwest. I suspect that an Asian family might be building this because the house will include what I think will be an indoor Koi pond.

Man, I'd love to tour this house when it is done!
