Allen's Hummingbird

Once a month the Arboretum opens early, from 6am to 9am, for folks who love the early light.  I wasn't done with my coffee and cake in time to open the gates, but we did go up there around 7. It's always fun to stand quietly on a path and listen to the hummingbirds buzz and click and whirr. Once in a while they will part your hair for you when they do a dive, and once in a while you get lucky and find one sitting stock still.

The Extra is, I think, a young Anna's Hummingbird.
