The rescued kayak

A section of a rather beautifully built kayak, in need of some serious TLC. It was rescued from a skip by my ex-husband Graham, many years ago. Pressure of other things, and then illness, prevented him from ever restoring it as he had originally hoped. Our son and daughter brought it out of the garage today and began to decorate it with jam jars to hold candles, and flowers.  Tomorrow there will be an outdoor gathering of friends and family to remember Graham - some 10 days after his death, now - and the decorated kayak will be a centrepiece.   There were many unfinished projects in Graham's life, and I love the way in which our children have made this one into something beautiful. A true act of love and restoration.
