“The ayes have it!”

Are these bees’ eyes? Spotted them today on the sea holly. Perhaps we have a bee expert amongst us? 
I thought Taz our elderly cat, now in his 20thyear, had given up hunting until we found the remains of an animal it’s guts neatly laid out on a rug this morning.
It was too big for a field mouse yet not big enough for a rabbit. There are no feathers.
Just hope it’s not a rat.
