And very welcome it was too; we had a lovely walk around Ripley. Weather has been beautiful all day.

Finished reading "Ernest Bevin: Labour’s Churchill" by Andrew Adonis. Very good book, bit of an eye opener. A balanced book which makes you realise what a political heavyweight he was particularly between 1940 and when he died in 1951. Shared a misguided belief in Empire with Churchill and got the Israeli issue completely wrong but was hugely important in mobilising Britain for war and for helping rebuild Europe afterwards.

Boris now says "it’ll all be over before Christmas". Yeah right, heard that one before ...
