I Love The Smell Of Prit-Stick In The Morning

In a previous life, in the days before computers and t'interweb, I produced a Smiths fanzine each issue of which the title was based on Morrissey's uncanny use of the word "really" ie: "It's Really So Strange", "It's Really Serious", "I Really Don't Care" etc. - you get the idea.

It lead on to many wonderful opportunities and experiences.

This is a page that was part of an interview I did with the late Kirsty McColl about her work with The Smiths, and following their split, Morrissey and Johnny Marr.

She told me that she had spoken to Morrissey about my request prior to consenting to an interview. I had previously given the be-quiffed one a previous issue in Glasgow.

Thankfully Moz gave his royal blessing and it was a great interview during which she revealed many previously undocumented Smiths-factoids such as how she she first met Morrissey and Marr and was asked to provide backing vocals on "Bigmouth..." although she was not credited on the album.

I'm very proud of my early forays into the music journo world.
