Saunton Sands beach

Last night we went to a local Italian restaurant for supper. We had a corner table and they had plastic screens up between our table and the rest of the restaurant, and all the staff all wore face screens, so I felt quite comfortable with their C-19 safety measures. The food was excellent and it was a nice treat to go out for dinner again.

Before breakfast this morning Gavin and I walked Xena from the house along the Torr's path towards Lee - it is a very steep walk and we walked most of the way but did not descend into Lee as we needed to get back for breakfast. It was cloudy again today, but we decided to go to Saunton beach which is four miles long of beautiful white sand, and dogs are allowed on the beach all year round. In fact it turned out to be blue skies and sunshine today so it was a wonderful day for the beach.

The beach was one of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere in the world - a seemingly never ending long beach with the sea on one side and grassy dunes on the other. It is often used in film sets, particularly war movies when they film D Day landings on the beach. It was also used for Robbie William's video for Angel, and for the Olly Murs song Hand on Heart. Luke, Tommy and Inca hired surf boards and all surfed but as Adam's back is still painful he swam instead. After they finished surfing we had a quick lunch at the beach cafe and then Gavin and I came home as he had a zoom meeting to attend and the youngsters stayed to swim and play ball games on the beach. Only a small section of the beach had people surfing or sitting on the sand, but as it is such a large beach it was very easy to get away from everyone else so a perfect place to go to.

When we got back to the house, Gavin had his meeting and I walked into town to take photos around the harbour. As it is a working harbour there is so much to photograph. I had much fun photographing all the fishing boats and their nets, then took some long exposure images, and many more images of Verity - that statue does seem to grow on you the more you see it (there is an extra of Verity)

I took so many photos today I will be busy editing for some time, but it was good to see different scenery again. I had great difficulty choosing a blip but I liked the simplicity of the one I have blipped.
