Diary of an Edinburgher

Hermitage Walk

Today we took our pal Christine with us on our Archie walk. She’s ‘getting to know’ him, with a view to - wait for it - coming to look after him whenever we want to nip off. Brilliant!

A walk through the Hermitage (we said hello to Gavin Hastings, an ex-Scotland rugby player) for a coffee sitting on the bridge at the other end. Christine is very familiar with all the walks there, and even further afield. Good. She’s used to dog walking, too, sometimes with family dogs who can be naughty. She was impressed at how well behaved Archie was.

I took the car down to the Duck Pond, and popped my bowling club membership application in on the way. I won’t be buying any ‘whites’ to wear, but that’s only for tournaments, I presume.

Today, had there been no worldwide pandemic, our house/dog sitter from New Zealand would have arrived. We’d be packing our suitcases for the trip of a lifetime to the Rocky Mountains, followed by a cruise to Alaska. *sigh*

But not to worry, a modest, shorter, much cheaper and possibly a wee bit less exciting trip is planned...

Archie found something interesting... (Extra)
