Working Day - It's not all fun and games

Thank you all for your kind comments and stars on yesterday's "weed".

As I mentioned yesterday, I spent the day driving to the "middle of nowhere" to do some work for a client.  I spent 2 1/2 hours each way to get to where I needed to go, and then spent a good portion of the day researching records for the data I needed.  Thankfully, the county offices were open, but you had to have an appointment and few people were allowed inside.

The above photo is of an index of records from the county.  My research involved looking at records back in the late 1800's through to today.  Each of these books weighs about 25 pounds, and involves climbing up on a large stepstool to haul them up and down to review their contents.  I looked at over 40 books yesterday.  After about 3 hours of this, my injured shoulder was screaming.  This was another reminder that I will have to have surgery on it soon.

Afterward, I drove "out to the field".  I was planning on taking a number of photos.  But there was a brush fire nearby and the smoke created a weak, diffuse look to the panorama I had planned.  Although with a different set of mountains,  I was hoping to do another photo similar to this:    https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3750631

Perhaps another day . . .

I was also hoping to find some mustangs or antelope, but I didn't even see a squirrel or rattlesnake as I crept along the 4 wheel drive road that I was on.  All I saw was very hazy mountains, sage brush and dust.  And it was very hot - over 100 deg. F.

Once I got back on the interstate, it was an uneventful drive home, with very little traffic.  Generally this time of year, there are lots of people on the road, heading for nearby lakes or mountains.  I only saw two motorhomes, a dozen or so cars, and lots of trucks.

Home at last.  Now for some dinner and a glass of wine.

I probably won't post this until tomorrow.  Just too sore and tired.
