2020 Wednesday — The Last Rays
Early morning light doesn’t exist here; early morning gray does.
So my question each dawn is “Is there a horizon?” Just a faint line that divides the ocean from the sky. Some mornings, “No, there’s not.” It’s just a soft gray with no details.
Today, well this Wednesday, it arrived with a definite dividing line. Yeah, it was soft, and if I could have touched it, my fingers would have left an indentation.
But that line is like a birthmark; a hint that the moments, the minutes, the hours on today’s clock are going to have distinction.
And this day did. By evening distinct images and vivid color could be seen in all directions.
In this photo, the last rays were lighting-up the tawny hills, the houses on the shoreline, the windows at the top of our street, and the two palm trees.
We could wish all the power poles and wires were not there, but then we’d have no electricity.
