Signs of the Times

Walking home from work a little disillutioned I came cross these signs on a house in the New Town of Edinburgh.

Engraved in the stone is "Sir Robert Philip Pioneer in the crusade against tuberculosis lived in this house from 1898 until 1938"

Below are the signs of the current occupants. All financial firms. Access Energy possibly the only firm doing anything tangible and even then not doing it just "investing" in other people doing it.

The modern signs are ugly and cheap and all about money. The old stone is about a home and a contribution to the greater good.

Kind of sums things up for me.
