Memento mori

A busy day. M had ordered a leather jacket online , a beautiful soft leather in the sale at a 3rd of the original price. It arrived beautifully packaged but 2 of the studs were  broken so it had to be returned. We decided to take it to the shop in Bowness.  I thought it would be nice to have a change of scenery.

It was raining so we thought that it might not be too busy. Wrong!
I parked at Braithwaite Fold, and there were only a few cars. The walk past the cemetery was quiet but as we got by the water it was very crowded and difficult to avoid people. Nobody seemed to be bothering about social distancing so our walk up the hill was as quick as we could and lots of hopping to one side to avoid bumping into people . I counted only 6 people wearing masks . Perhaps in a week when it is mandatory to wear masks in shops it might reinforce to these people that this virus hasn't gone away.

So we didnt stay long.

Blip is of  a rather ornate gate/ turnstile leading into the cemetery..  with a reminder about social distancing fastened to the side.  Perhaps we need a more forceful reminder of the consequences .

Back home early afternoon and good news. My Great Nephew was born this morning  ( 8 days late) Leo Alan John.
Lots of excuses for knitting.
