Two Trees....
We went on our nature reserves and wild meadows walk today. We started just outside Buxton, and walked via Wye Dale along the River Wye. We then headed towards Chelmorton, where there are many fields that echo the old field system of farming with each enclosed by a dry stone wall.
The best parts for flora and fauna were on the return leg via Horseshoe Dale and Deepdale.
Throughout the day we saw so many butterflies including tortoiseshell, meadow brown, red admiral and brown ringlet. But the star of the show was the five spot burnet moth. (see extra)
We had beautiful sunny weather, not too warm for walking and stunning cloud formations.
We did had a bit of an unexpected diversion at the end of the walk. Part of Deep Dale was off limits as there is restoration work going on at Topley Quarry. It's going to take several years..... But it meant we got back out on the top the valley with great views.
