This morning a striking large moth was on the lawn and although I thought at first it was a Large Empire moth I’m not at all sure so perhaps someone can identify it.   Nor could I identify the tiny hoverfly, one of over 280 species in Britain but I was able to identify a Burnet moth on the Scabious flower.   The Red-legged Shieldbug  (Forest Bug) was on the door step and had probably recently changed to its adult form as they can be found from July to November.  It’s surprising the variety of minibeasts there are in the garden but the green fly on the roses and black fly on the nasturtiums and slugs and weevils which nibble the young plants are not welcome.

Edit    Thanks to Shutterup  it is confirmed as a swallow-tailed moth
