What exactly do I do with this thing,?

I know it looks obvious but I have to get the door off its hinges, have no where to balance it while I shave a couple of millimetres off the bottom.

Without hurting myself, damaging anything or make any mess. Och wish my brothers lived nearer, not a happy bunny!
