Taymouth Castle, Kenmore
A lovely sunny day
After a few busy days and no Blips, we are off on holiday with our son and family. We are staying in a lovely Lodge just above Loch Tay, a few miles outside Kenmore.
This afternoon we went for a walk in the grounds of Taymouth Castle, Kenmore. It was a circular walk of 3 miles, through mainly woodland.
The present Castle was finished in 1842, in time for a visit from a youthful Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, who were on their first visit to Scotland. The Castle was described as one of the finest Neo Gothic buildings anywhere.
It gradually fell into disrepair but is now being renovated to create a luxury Hotel with 400 acres, most of which Is a Golf Course.
The weather seems set fair for the rest of the week, a blessing for our first break after Lockdown.
